Happy New Year, Friends!
Jonathan and I have been silent (again) due to the fullness of the holidays. While it is a wonderful season to spend with family and friends, we love returning to our normal rhythms at the start of a new year.
We are so excited to tell you that our adoption has been FULLY funded. Our goal was for you, our community, to help us with the last $10,000 that we will need to pay for our adoption costs. And, to be honest, that felt like a pretty steep ask.
But it is so humbling to say, only about 10 weeks after announcing our need, you've supplied for our need. SO quickly, SO generously, SO encouragingly. Thank you.
Now that we have the financials, we are letting ourselves (cautiously) prepare a space. It's just some paint, and eventually a dresser, but we are designating a nursery room in hopeful expectation. It's going to be an "outer space" theme!
There is no specific child in mind, we have not been matched, and we still do not have a timeline for you. So what next? We wait. Our agency is showing our profile to the expectant mothers they are working with--women considering making an adoption plan. These brave women will choose the family that best fits her hopes and dreams for her child. And, hopefully, a relationship will form between the child's family of origin and potential adoptive family, even before birth.
Eventually, we will be one of those families. In the meantime, we prepare with openhandedness, we pray for the women our agency is working with and for the other potential adoptive families sitting in the waiting, and we trust God with the details of our lives and how things will weave together.
